What we do, in detail

Carts and low-speed vehicles, street-legal work, custom builds, and service.

Program 01 · Know which you bought

Carts and LSVs

The two look identical in a showroom and they are not the same thing in law. A golf cart tops out at 20 mph, needs no title, no plate and no compulsory insurance, and belongs on roads approved for carts. A low-speed vehicle runs 20 to 25 mph and is a motor vehicle: title, registration, insurance, a licensed driver, roads posted 35 mph or less. We put which one you are getting in writing, because owners who were never told end up finding out from a deputy.

  • Per machine
  • Private and business
  • Category in writing

Program 02 · Title, or nothing

Street-legal work

Street legal is not a kit of lights. A machine presented as a low-speed vehicle has to meet the federal standard for one: headlamps, turn signals front and rear, taillamps, stop lamps, reflectors, mirrors, a parking brake, a conforming windshield, a seat belt at every seat, and a vehicle identification number. Then it has to be capable of title in fact. If your cart cannot get there, you will hear that before we take any money, not after.

Program 03 · Speed changes the law

Custom builds

This is the fun part and it carries the trap. A motor swap, a controller, new gearing, even taller tires can push a cart past 20 mph, and at that moment it stops being a golf cart in law and becomes an unregistered, uninsured motor vehicle sitting in your yard. We tell you what a given change does to top speed before we fit it. Past 25 mph there is no category at all, and we will not call such a build street legal.

Program 04 · Brakes before speed

Service and batteries

Carts get driven by families on public roads at the speed of traffic in a residential street, which is a different duty of care from eighteen holes. Brakes, steering, tires and lights come before anything that makes it quicker. Battery and charger work is done to the manufacturer specification, including lithium conversions, because an improvised pack and a mismatched charger is a fire in a garage attached to a house.
